Bodies in Motion: Embedding Movement, Sport & Play in Learning
Description
This practical session introduces Briarwood's updated My Body curriculum and explores how physical development can be used to support independence, regulation, wellbeing and participation for pupils with SEND. Participants will gain an understanding of the curriculum's focus on gross motor development, functional movement and sport, while exploring how movement can be embedded throughout the school day to improve access to learning and preparation for adulthood.
Through hands-on activities, playground games and real-life case studies, staff will discover inclusive approaches to supporting physical development for learners with a wide range of needs. The session also highlights opportunities for community engagement, enrichment and lifelong participation in physical activity, helping practitioners create meaningful movement experiences that build confidence, resilience and independence
This module has been accredited by the NCFE and can be considered when working towards the NCFE Award. Participants are required to complete five modules, including the mandatory module.
