Body of Work™ Brisbane | 11 - 12 July | A Two-Day Workshop
Description
BODY OF WORK™ BRISBANE
A Two-Day Immersion
11–12 July 2026 | Vacant Assembly, Brisbane
Discover the raw language of your body through movement, mark-making and story.
Body of Work™ is an immersive expressive arts experience that invites you to slow down, listen differently and create from the inside out. Through movement, mark-making, somatic prompts, creative exploration and group witnessing, you'll be guided to explore the relationship between body, expression and meaning.
Across two days, you'll move between a range of expressive arts modalities, allowing the body, imagination and creative process to inform one another. This is a space for curiosity, experimentation and discovery; a place to explore what emerges when we step outside familiar ways of thinking and making.
On Day One, you'll work on a large canvas using colour, line and gesture. Through movement, somatic inquiry, mark-making and creative exploration, you'll create a body of marks that reflects your experience in the moment. Working at scale invites a different kind of relationship with creativity; one that engages the whole body and welcomes impulse, sensation, rhythm and response. Throughout the day, you'll be guided through expressive arts processes that encourage you to move beyond outcome and into a richer conversation with yourself, your materials and the unfolding work. Through movement, witnessing, reflection and creative experimentation, you'll explore what becomes possible when expression leads the way.
On Day Two, you'll return to your canvas and continue the process of inquiry through a range of expressive arts modalities. Drawing on movement, writing, reflection, witnessing, image-making and creative response, you'll explore the stories, themes and possibilities emerging from your work. As the process unfolds, your canvas may become a journal, vessel, assemblage, artefact or three-dimensional form. The final form is not predetermined but discovered through an ongoing conversation between body, imagination, material and meaning.
No art experience is needed. This workshop is open to artists and non-artists alike. All that is required is curiosity and a willingness to explore.
