Body Slap - Body Percussion Class
Event description
A 6 week rhythmic journey of groove and musical connection. We will play with traditional and modern grooves from around the world, tapping and slapping them into superbly satisfying synchrony!
If you are a compulsive toe-tapper, leg-slapper, then COME, channel your rhythmic instincts and make music with your OWN BODY. You may even learn a couple of impressive party tricks.
IF you are curious, but not-quite-yet feeling that music finds it way out of your body of its own accord, Body Percussion is an excellent and enjoyable way to develop your musical ensemble skills, and ground into a deeper physical connection with the music.
Great for choral singers who want to hone their rhythmic skills, and for those who just love to groove.
About your hosts: Body Slap is a moving musical collaboration between Brian Martin and Christine Clegg.
After learning “rhythm dances” from the Kiribati islands in the Pacidic, and some Indonesian and Maori based body percussion, Brian was invited to teach body percussion as part of the dance course at the Lismore Conservatorium of Arts Centre, where he headed the vocal department. Christine brings her skills in both dance and music and together they offer Body Percussion Classes in Maleny and the Sunshine Coast.
