Embodiment Practices
This Workshop can achieve these goals by focussing on:
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
Dreamwork from the perspective of Jungian Psychology
Art Therapy
Meditation
Background to Embodiment Practices:
These workshops will focus on giving you a first hand experience of practices and the possibilities that can have a profound influence on health.
Some background theory will also be given.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy:
We will explore a very gentle but effective style of touch-based bodywork that is profoundly influenced by the art of 'non-doing'. This style of bodywork supports the body to recognise safety and return to health.
We will be exploring a number of practical and easy to engage exercises, breaking up into groups to practice what it feels like to listen to the body and witness the responses.
You're welcome to learn more about Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy you can visit this website
Dreamwork:
"Dreams are impartial, spontaneous products of the unconscious psyche, outside the control of the will. They're pure nature, showing us unvarnished, natural truth, and are therefore fitted, as nothing else is, to to give us back an attitude that accords with our basic human nature..." C. G. Jung- The Meaning of Psychology for Modern Man
While exploring dreams relies very much on our intuition and emotional/body responses to the dreams content, there are a number of guiding principles that Jung recognised can provide some structure to the dream analysis. We will explore these principles and see how they work with real dreams.
If you would like to bring along a dream, there will be a session where we break into smaller groups and you can experience helping other people with their dream - and if you wish having that help with your own dream.
Art Therapy:
In this workshop Art Therapy serves as a creative process to foster self-expression to give voice to non-verbal symbols and messages that will help us explore our dreams and what may be difficult to put into words.
Meditation:
As a prelude to the above processes, we will use a body-centered meditation practice.
Exploring physical sensations will help with:
Grounding awareness in the present, felt experience of the body as internally perceived.
Regulating the nervous system by fostering a non-judgmental awareness of internal states, thereby facilitating the gentle release of tension or stored emotional/trauma energy (a shift from reaction to response).
Enable the body to anchor and deepen awareness of the present moment.
