EVENT STATUS UPDATE, 7/1/21

It is with much disappointment that we are announcing  the cancellation of the 2021 B2H event. Our priority is always our runners safety and with various restrictions imposed around border closures and movement of our participants, safety team, volunteers and team members, it is not possible to proceed with the event in 2021. All registered participants will receive a full refund within 7 days.

end update:

PLEASE READ INFO BELOW BEFORE BUYING TICKET

If you haven't already spent time looking over the race info on the Website please do so to ensure you have all the information you need

Please Note 2021 Differences compared to past years listed below.

If the Date Jan 16th is not approved by Parks, an alternative date will be investigated, up to but no later than March 31st 2021, if Jan 16th is not approved as it normally would be as per previous years.

We are easing back into events after Covid-19 stopped so much of everyday life. One of the most significant changes of recent years for the B2H run will be the requirement of runners to be more self sufficient, by carrying enough food to not rely on any aid station supplies. There will be emergency items only available and water to top up.

We are also planning ( if available) a live tracking system for additional safety to our radio operators network, this will require all runners to carry a fully charged smartphone and spare powerbank to ensure it remains operational the entire journey

2021 will be the 33rd running of Bogong to Hotham, AKA the "Rooftop Run".

B2H is a classic race with a rich history embedded in Australian trail running folklore.

Starting at Mountain Creek Campground, runners climb Victoria’s highest mountain, Mt Bogong, descend T-Spur to Big River before the next big climb up Duane's Spur to reach the Bogong High Plains.

Passing through the main aid station at Langford Gap, runners continue across the high plains before dropping to the Cobungra River and climbing Swindler's Spur on the way to the finish at Mt Hotham summit.

The 64km full distance is undoubtedly, one of the toughest races mile-for-mile in Australia it offers the most spectacular views, the most amazing experience and a real challenge for trail runners. While the 35km and 29km offer the same amazing views, the 35km is every bit the challenge, while the 29km can be achieved by the regular trail runner who puts in some hill work.

This event requires the full respect of runners toward their training, their navigation, their commitment to mandatory gear and absolute respect of the elements.

Your entry here is in fact an application to be a part of the event, you will receive an immediate confirmation of your application being processed and soon after an official confirmation of your acceptance into the event or a follow up email to discuss your application further. While it is not our desire to refuse any capable person a spot, it is certainly our desire to ensure you are suitably trained and prepared and ask that you seriously consider where you are at in relation to being ready to take on this awesome challenge.

It is the Australian Alps. It demands that you are in great health, your training is peaking and mentally you are ready. Conditions can change in the blink of an eye from 30 degrees above to below zero, visibility can be as far as the horizon allows or so bad you cant see your hand in front of your face, Its true we have been there when it has been both and all on the same day

2021 See's the re introduction of an early start 5am, opening up the event to a few runners who have previously struggled to maintain pace and beat the cutoffs.

Early starts are available only to runners who can show they are likely to fall in the 11-13hr finish window, the early start is not an alternative start time to beat the heat or other conditions. It is expected most early start runners will be caught by the 6am starters near the summit of Mt Bogong.

Humanitix fees and taxes apply to all entries, we recommend taking out the personal insurance protection in the event of cancellation of the run.

There are some changes compared to previous years, that need noting.

A low key race is our approach to restart after a year of so much uncertainty. While safety remains a top priority we will be keeping things very basic and an emphasis will be on the participant to be more self sufficient in 2021. Water drops will still be available, and two main aid stations will be in place, however food provided will be emergency supplies only, Runners are to provide drop bags or have crews to assist them at check points.

1 - It's a Saturday run NOT a Sunday

2 - Post Race presentations is Sunday Brunch, Not Sunday Dinner, providing a venue can be confirmed, if not we will present winners on completion of race.

3 - COVID restrictions apply, what ever they are in January.

4 - Briefings will likely be online documents not live, requires sign off.

5 - Mandatory Gear Checks may be self assessed based on info provided. Disqualification for incorrect gear during pre race or during race checks. These are serious safety issues and entrants must not attempt to bypass.

6 - Early start times and wave starts made available, Faster runners can not start early.

7 - Extended finish time total cutoff 13 hrs at finish ( that's 1 extra hour ) Unless you are an early start then its 14hrs at finish ( that's 2 extra hours )

8 - 35km Langford Cutoff for 64km event extended to 7hrs

9 - 35km Event Only, cut off extended to 8hrs.
