Event description

From the minds at Knight Moves & Quirk Events comes BOINGA Game Festival: a festival for game lovers. We've been given the keys to High Street Place - a giant and wonderful food hall in the heart of Downtown Boston - with one primary directive: Pack it full of as many games as we can. Check out a full schedule of events here!

Indie Board Game Showcase - At the heart of our event are 25 local board game designers who will be showing off their cardboard creations. Hop from table to table trying games and meeting the brilliant minds behind them. Games will range from raw prototype to polished product available for purchase, and everything in between.

Board Game Tournaments - We'll be hosting 3 separate board game tournaments throughout the day. For each one, there will be two rounds- with the top players from round one advancing to the finals with a chance to prove their gaming brilliance! Codenames will begin in the morning at 11, followed by Catan at 4pm, and then Dominion at 6pm. Game on!

D&D for first time players + Magic the Gathering for First time players - If you've never played D&D before but always been curious as to what that world is all about, we'll have someone on hand who can teach you the game lickity split, then dive into an adventure with you! And we'll have another table nearby with the same structure where you can try out Magic the Gathering.

Pub Trivia - This trivia game is from us here at Quirk Events! We don't just churn out questions like some fly-by-night trivia organization... we pour our souls into every game we create. This game will run in the format of a traditional pub trivia game with players competing as teams.

Blitz-speed trivia - This trivia game is a nonstop trivia explosion. Players will compete on their phones, in this everyone-for-themselves competition. The faster you answer each question, the more points you get.

Board Game Speed Friending - Modeled after our popular board game speed dating nights (if we were shameless, we'd tell you that you can normally buy tickets for one of these upcoming events here on our website), this game will be an opportunity for people to play games with different attendees, and make some board game loving friends. Each round, we'll teach you a new game that you'll play with a new group of people.

Wordplay - You don't need a Brobdingnagian vocabulary to play this word game, which mixes elements of Scrabble, Boggle, and Wordle.

Music Bingo - It's a bingo game crossed with a DJ cranking your favorite tunes! Your board will be a series of songs and the artists who perform them. Each time your host plays a song on your board, you cross it off, 5 in a row gets you bingo! No music knowledge required, we'll help you identify any songs you don't already know.

Feud Night - It's like Pub trivia meets Family Feu- you know what, for copyright reasons, let's not finish that word. We’ve asked 100 people a bunch of questions, and now you have to guess the most popular answer to each one.

Rock-Paper-Scissors Tournament - That's right, we're inviting you to a battle royale to prove who the greatest rock-paper-scissors player is in all the land... or at least in Greater Boston.

Celebrity / Names from a Hat / Monikers - It's one giant game of celebrity. And if you've never played celebrity, it's one of only two party games in the world with a pretty much 100% approval rate, so we invite you to try it out.

Beat Greg at Boggle, Win a Slice of Pizza - This is a challenge where we dare to ask: Can you beat Greg at Boggle? Look, you won't win, Greg is unstoppable. But at least you can say you sat at the same table as him. And if you do somehow pull off the upset, you'll get a slice of pizza, on us. By the way, this is Big Boggle, meaning we'll have a 5x5 board with a four-letter word minimum. Because Greg don't mess around.

Board Game Designer Q&A - We're inviting a couple of local board game designers to join us for a Q&A, where they'll answer your questions about just what it's like to build board games for an audience, talking through everything from ideation to playtesting to marketing.

Co-Operatives Puzzle Room - We're excited to be hosting a puzzle room from the brilliant minds at Co-operatives! Co-operatives provides an interactive experience where you participate through teamwork and puzzle-solving fun. It's like an escape room without the walls. Please note, this is the only activity for which there will be a slight additional charge, though that charge will still represent a discount from the game's typical cost if you were to play it at their venue in downtown Boston.

Puzzle Hunt - tear through the halls of High Street Place on a Puzzle Hunt designed by our friends at escapely.

Telestrations Guest Book - We mentioned Celebrity being one of only two party games with a near universal approval rate. The other is Telestrations. If you haven't played before, drop by our check in stand and sign our guest book. It'll take you all of one minute and you can be a part of the telestrations tapestry of BOINGA 2024.

The event starts at 10am, and you can join at any time. But whatever time you come, we recommend you come hungry. High Street Place is a food hall filled with delicious offerings, and your ticket comes with a $5 food voucher good at any eatery in the building.

A quick note about this event...

We work hard to make all of our events accessible to everyone, and we know not everyone's financial situation is the same. If the cost of these tickets represents a financial burden that would be a real strain for you to pay, but you'd still love to attend, please let us know at hello@quirkevents.com, and we will email you a discount code, no questions asked.
