Bold Moves: Career Stories of Advocacy, Action and Courage
Description
Join Spence Club for an intimate fireside chat with three remarkable women who chose to speak up, stand up and step forward at times when it would have been far easier not to. Whether advocating for themselves when no one else would, or acting boldly where it was needed most, these women forged their own paths and became a shining light for others in the process.
Expect authentic conversations and the real stories behind the wins and lessons, alongside practical insights into self advocacy, supporting others, and charting new courses when there is no obvious map.
This is your chance to connect with other driven women, ask questions, and leave energised and emboldened to take action with courage for yourself and others in your professional and personal lives.
Held during Adelaide’s History Month in May, this event is a fitting opportunity to celebrate women who are quietly, and not so quietly, making history right now. We will also take time to honour the pioneering spirit of Catherine Helen Spence, the trailblazing South Australian advocate and namesake of the Club.
Besides donating profits to Catherine House, we also invite members to support South Australian women in need by bringing a piece of gently used professional clothing to the event for donation to Adelaide organisation Dress for Success.
Please note we may not be able to accommodate for dietary requirements on any tickets purchased after Friday 22 May 2026. We'll do our very best.
🎤 Our Speakers
Chelsey Potter - Advocate, Strategist & Trailblazer
Chelsey knows what it means to speak up when silence feels safer. After courageously waiving her anonymity to expose sexual harassment in Australian political workplaces, she turned her experience into a catalyst for systemic change. Now a strategist, brand mentor and founder of the Suffragette Group, she's dedicated her career to opening doors for women in politics and leadership. Her story is one of fierce resilience, hard-won credibility and the power of using your voice to light the way for others.
Kimberly Goh - Community Builder & Champion for Belonging
Arriving in Australia as an international student, Kimberly understands firsthand what it feels like to be new, navigating an unfamiliar system without a roadmap. Rather than waiting for someone to build the table, she built it herself - founding the Migrant Women Professional Network, which has since connected over 1,000 women from more than 50 countries. Now a board member, mentor and advocate working in Higher Education, Kim's story is a reminder that belonging is something we create, and that one person's courage to act can change the trajectory of thousands.
Marissa Schulze - Property Pioneer & Financial Freedom Advocate
Marissa started investing in property at 18 with a vision most of her peers hadn't even considered at the time. She went on to found Rise High Financial Solutions, build a portfolio of over 30 properties, and achieve financial freedom in her 30s—all while becoming one of Australia's most recognised voices in the Mortgage and Finance industry. Today, Marissa serves as a Director of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia and is a sought-after Strategic Advisor, driving professional evolution and the economic empowerment of women. Her story is one of bold moves and proof that backing yourself early, playing the long game, and refusing to be underestimated will redefine what’s possible.
