Event description

Curious about what our local animals get up to at night? Join the Friends of Bold Park Bushland guides on a tour looking for nocturnal animals and learning about some of their weird and wonderful mating behaviours.

With the weather warming up and plentiful food available, September is peak breeding season for many of our bushland inhabitants. Many of these creatures are most active at night, making it the perfect time.

We'll be walking the trails of Bold Park looking for nocturnal animals, including quendas, possums, owls, spiders, and many more! Along the way, our guides will share their knowledge of the courtship techniques that our animal friends use to attract a partner. Who knows what romantic ideas they may inspire in you!

So bring a loved one, your friends, or a maybe-more-than-just-friends for a fun and quirky evening exploring our local bushland and learning about the resident animals.

Please note that this is a ticketed event with a limited number of places available. All attendees must have a ticket. Our guides will be discussing "the birds and the bees" of birds, bees, and other animals, so this event is not suitable for young children.

We'll be following an established walking trail, which includes some uphill sections, so a moderate level of fitness will be required. Wear closed-in shoes suitable for walking and come dressed for the weather. Bring a torch to light the path and binoculars, if you have them, to help spot animals high in the trees.

This walk is approximately 2.5km and up 2 hours long. The trail includes some steep uphill sections and uneven ground so you will need to be moderately fit and wear closed shoes. It is not suitable for prams, wheelchairs, or those requiring mobility aids.

This event will go ahead in most weather conditions, but may be cancelled (and tickets refunded) if a severe weather warning is in place at the time of the walk.
