Bollywood Dance workshop in HAMILTON - Kalyani

Namaste, I'm Shruti! I am the founder and creative head behind Dancepiration NZ.

I was born in Delhi, India where I pursued Bharatnatyam training since the tender age of 6 years old. Pretty quickly, I found myself dancing on stage in front of large live audiences in groups and solo - and before I knew it stage became my happy place.

Fast forward to when family decided to migrate to Auckland, New Zealand and growing up here, even though life happened but dance never left me and quite frankly I couldn't leave dance either.

With more than 15 years of experience in Dance in total - 6+ years of Bharatnatyam training, 4 years of Kathak training and continued ongoing training in Contemporary dance form under the instructors of Terence Lewis along with strong dedication towards dance has led me to form this company where in now I aim to provide Auckland community with the best of Bollywood - be it workshops, event choreographies, wedding or simply performances at events.

My workshops are designed to be open level, catered to everyone where you can come, groove to a bollywood track in a space that I aim to create for you where you can be yourself, learn and dance like no one is watching. Along with having fun and meeting like minded people, you will walk away learning some foundations and techniques of a dance style that will be incorporated into the choreography.

I specialise in Lyrical Contemporary dance style - however my workshops are not all fully technical. I aim to incorporate and teach some basics of lyrical contemporary style and help you incorporate those effectively into the piece of choreography I teach.

No prior dancing experience is required - my workshops are suitable and open to all levels. Join a community where confidence meets choreography and where everyone loves to move & groove on some Bollywood Bangers!

I aim to teach ~40 seconds to 1 minute of choreography, followed by shooting some videos, which I encourage you to take part in, but it is not mandatory.
