Bonnie Hislop - Ceramic Workshop (Pet Sculpture)

Event description

Ipswich Festivals presents SPARK2024 - Bonnie Hislop

Join ceramic artist Bonnie Hislop in an imaginative workshop where you'll craft your own whimsical pet sculpture. Whether you envision your furry friend sporting a party hat or dream up a smiling pineapple atop their head, this is your chance to bring your creative pet portrait to life!

No prior experience with ceramics? No problem! Bonnie Hislop, an accomplished artist based in Meanjin, draws on her expertise in handbuilding and ceramic illustration to guide you through the process. Learn the basics of shaping clay and applying underglaze while tapping into Bonnie's passion for blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary creativity.

Bonnie's work, celebrated for its vibrant colors and satirical concepts, invites participants to explore personal expression through clay. Her pieces have been featured in prominent exhibitions and collections, including the Museum of Brisbane, showcasing her unique approach to ceramics as a medium for storytelling and reflection.

Join us in Bonnie's welcoming studio environment to discover the joy of sculpting with clay. Whether you're creating a gift for a loved one or crafting your dream pet, this workshop promises to be a fun and enriching experience for all skill levels. Unleash your imagination and create something truly special under the guidance of a seasoned ceramic maven!

Your pet portraits will take about a month to dry after the class, then they will be fired and glazed, ready to collect about a month after the class concludes. We’ll let you know when they’re ready for you to take home.

This workshop has been subsidised by Ipswich City Council as part of the Creative Industries Action Plan
