Bonnie Medicine & For The Living Earth

Wednesday, October 14, 2026
The Lantern | Portland, Oregon
Doors at 7:30 PM | Music 8-10 PM

Join us for an intimate evening of music, song, and connection with Bonnie Medicine & For The Living Earth at The Lantern in Portland.

Rooted in relationship with the Earth, ancestry, spirit, and the unseen worlds around us, these artists create music that reaches beyond performance and into something deeper. Through haunting harmonies, strings, percussion, prayer, story, and shared voice, the evening invites us to listen closely to ourselves, to one another, and to the living world.

Traveling from the Celtic Isles of Scotland, Bonnie Medicine brings songs woven from her relationship with place, plants, ancestral memory, and the rhythms of the Earth. She is joined by Portland-based duo For The Living Earth, whose dreamlike songs emerge from their own communications with nature and devotion to creating music as a gift to the land and all who hear it.

Together, they invite us into an evening of beauty and remembrance, creating space for tenderness, grief, hope, wonder, and the possibility of coming more fully alive in challenging times. Gather with us among the trees and stained glass of The Lantern for a night of music offered for the living Earth.

About Bonnie Medicine

Bonnie Medicine is the musical expression of Mairead, a singer, song weaver, and medicine musician from the “Bonnie” isles of Scotland.

Her songs and prayers are inspired by her deep Celtic roots and connection to story and place. She weaves these ancestral threads with the songs of the plants, the rhythms of the Earth, and the drumbeat of the heart, drawing inspiration from the many lands she has traveled through and learned from over the years.

Walking a path as a medicine woman, bard, artist, and priestess, Mairead’s work extends beyond music into ceremony and co-creation with plant and animal teachers. Her passion for social justice and collective healing has deeply guided her songwriting and her mission to bring people together through song.

Through her music, Bonnie Medicine invites listeners into a deeper remembrance of freedom, unity, and truth, offering prayer and connective medicine in service to greater harmony between people, community, land, and the living world.

About For The Living Earth

For The Living Earth is the musical collaboration of Jahnavi Veronica & Galen Hefferman. Together, they weave their songs with haunting vocal harmonies, plucked and bowed strings, percussion, and the willing voices of those who show up, creating soundscapes rooted in dreams and communications with nature.

For The Living Earth seeks to create songs that can be a balm for challenging times, to transform and revive, and to open us toward a full-hearted life. Their music twists together the fibers of the dream world and waking world, speaking from the underground rivers that feed the springs emerging from wild-willed places. They make music as a way of giving gifts to all who hear them, to the land they stand upon, and to the clear stars above.

About The Lantern

Located in Southeast Portland, The Lantern is a community gathering space dedicated to connection, grief support, creativity, and exploring the deeper questions of what it means to be human.

The Lantern was born from a place of longing. In 2024, after losing their mother too soon, a family came together to save a mid-century church and transform it into a community space for connection and grief support. Through grants, donated time and skills, and the care of many community members, that vision began to take form.

Today, The Lantern offers a place to gather among the trees and stained glass, to create, witness, grieve, heal, and connect. Its mission is to nourish deep relationships, expand access to grief and healing support, advance grief literacy, and reawaken our collective capacity to grieve, love, and connect.

It is a space for the full texture of being alive, and a beautiful home for an evening of music devoted to the living Earth.
