Event description

Ethereal indie-folk meets country folk in tales of suburban living and apocalyptic road music.

Bonniesongs | “spartan dream-folk drifts into unexplored areas, borrowing from jazz improvisation while delving into the sub-conscious.”

For audiences in Australia, Bonnie Stewart (Ireland) has been one of those subtly transcendent artists. Her lilting vocals float over gentle peaks of acoustic and electronic instruments, layered ethereally into what may be a moderately enchanted loop pedal. Bonnie’s ethereal qualities beguile you into a dreamlike trance in the style of contemporary folk/alternative artists such as Joanna Newsom and Bjork.

Since signing with labels Small Pond (UK) and Art As Catharsis (AU) and releasing her debut album Energetic Mind in 2019, Bonniesongs has garnered international radio plays from BBC Radio 6, Triple J, FBi Radio,
and RTRFM.

The Jim Dusty Drive-Thru Garbage Casino is the latest ensemble from local songwriter and high-risk, high-reward enthusiast, Jim Dusty. The live band delivers desperate and apocalyptic country/folk songs, backed with drum machines and second-hand semi-broken Casio keyboard melodies.

Gorman Sessions is presented by Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres with support from the ACT Government’s Amp It Up! funding initiative.
