    Event description

.Well it's true, the Unity Book Club is here! Our inaugural book club is launching with our first pick being the highly anticipated Birnam Woold by Eleanor Catton.

    About the book:

Birnam Wood is on the move ...

A landslide has closed the Korowai Pass in the South Island of New Zealand, cutting off the town of Thorndike, leaving a sizable farm abandoned. This land offers an opportunity to Birnam Wood, a guerrilla gardening collective that plants crops wherever no one will notice. But they hadn’t figured on the enigmatic American billionaire Robert Lemoine, who also has an interest in the place. Can they trust him? And, as their ideals and ideologies are tested, can they trust each other?

A gripping thriller from the Booker Prize–winning author of The Luminaries, Birnam Wood is Shakespearean in its wit, drama and immersion in character. A brilliantly constructed tale of intentions, actions and consequences, it is an unflinching examination of the human impulse to ensure our own survival.

Melissa will be hosting monthly book club to discuss some of the excellent recently released books.

Except our first one (giving you time to read Birnam Wood!), our monthly book club will be on the last Thursday of every month (excluding December), from 6.30pm to 8pm. We will announce the title we will be reading two months in advance, and at that time make the tickets available.

We have limited tickets available so grab a ticket sooner rather then later and tell your friends and whānau.

Drinks and snacks provided. Let us know if you have any specific allergies, send us an email.

If you have any further queries send us an email to wellington@unitybooks.co.nz and address it to Melissa.
