Book Launch & In Conversation with Dr Hilary Caldwell

Dr Hilary Caldwell will be in conversation with Beejay Silcox on her new book Slutdom: Reclaiming shame-free sexuality, an argument for a world without sexual shame.

About the Book

Despite decades of activism, women are still burdened with the effects of slut shaming in everyday life. Finally, there is a book that argues convincingly and passionately for women’s enjoyment of sex as a force to advance gender equality.

About Hillary Caldwell

Dr Hilary Caldwell is an academic with a Masters in Health Science and Applied Science. Her doctorate, ‘Women Who Buy Sex in Australia’ was the first study in the world to explore women buying sexual services and was informed by her professional career in the field of sexology.

Beejay Silcox is an Australian writer and critic, the Artistic Director of Canberra Writers Festival, and chair of the 2024 Stella Prize. Beejay’s literary criticism and cultural commentary regularly appears in literary and arts publications including the Times Literary Supplement, The Guardian, and the New York Times.
