Book Launch and Seminar: Sustainability Law in Mining and Energy by Professor John A.P. Chandler
Event description
Sustainability Law in Mining and Energy by Professor John A.P. Chandler
The Centre invites you to join Emeritus Professor Richard Bartlett and author Professor John Chandler, Co-Director of the Centre in launching this book with Chair, Emeritus Professor Richard Bartlett and panel members UWA Adjunct Senior Teaching Fellow Robyn Glindemann and Jess Dyer, general counsel of Alinta Energy. The seminar will be followed by drinks in the Law School courtyard to enable discussions to continue.
This book has been described by two leading commentators:
‘Sustainability is often sought but seldom achieved. Chandler’s book provides much-needed guidance on how to achieve sustainability in mining and energy. It explains and analyses how the principles and rules of sustainability can be applied in practice. The book thereby valuably contributes to the development of sustainability law and governance.’
The sustainability agenda imposes new obligations on the mining industry. The same agenda drives forward the energy transition. That transition, however, implies an exponential growth in mining for the mineral resources critical to renewable energy technologies. John Chandler’s book captures this extraordinary position perfectly. It could not be more timely. Essential reading.’
