Event description

Join us for the Hobart launch by Massimo Mele of Chocolatier by Igor van Gerwen of Anvers Tasmania and produced by Philip Kuruvita (Eat Drink Love Tasmania Vol 1 and 2 amongst others).

Chocolatier is a beautiful hardback read taking you through a journey of Igor’s cacao hunting adventures in remote areas like North Peru and
South Mexico, the mythical and mystical history of chocolate from the Maya to modern Europe, practical chocolate recipes for the home cook to
more challenging recipes from guest chefs, and much more.

Igor has spent the last 33 years creating a brand and destination that sees over 200,000 visitors a year. Anvers are also the sole Australian importer and distributor of the (Fortunato) Fortunate No.4 chocolate, the oldest, rarest chocolate in the world, which was thought to be extinct for over a hundred years until a small number of trees were found high up in the Marañón Canyon (in the Andes) and it was confirmed that they were this particular strain of chocolate. The local farmers are now propagating and marketing this exclusive chocolate to a limited number of suppliers around the world.

So if you have a sweet tooth and an appreciation for the finer things in life come and listen to Massimo and Igor speak about life as a Chocolatier at Anvers Tasmania in Devonport.
