Event description

Newcastle Writers Festival and Pan Macmillan invite you to celebrate the launch of Amy Lovat's debut novel Mistakes and Other Lovers, an exhilarating depiction of young womanhood set on the cement and sand of Newcastle.

Amy will be in conversation with Clare Stephens.

Copies of Mistakes and Other Lovers will be for sale thanks to MacLean's Booksellers.

Amy Lovat is the author of the much-anticipated debut novel Mistakes and Other Lovers, shortlisted for Kill Your Darlings and Varuna prizes, with early praise from Hannah Kent, Emily Maguire and Sally Hepworth. She has a PhD from the University of Newcastle and has worked on research into queer and female representation in the arts. She is also the founder of Secret Book Stuff with her partner Laura.

Clare Stephens is a Sydney-based digital content creator, screenwriter, editor and podcaster. She’s an executive editor at women’s media company Mamamia, where she hosts the comedy podcast Cancelled, which regularly tops Australia’s comedy charts and the recently released But Are You Happy, which launched at number one. She’s currently writing her first novel, The Worst Thing I’ve Ever Done, with Atlantic Books, and working as a writer and producer on Strife, commissioned by Binge.
