Our Home is a picture book written by Catherine Meatheringham and illustrated by Max Hamilton about where children live in Australia. From a rugged coast to an outback station to a high-rise apartment, Our Home showcases the landscapes, families and communities that make up our homes in Australia.
This story which is beautifully brought to life by the illustrations of Max Hamilton is full of onomatopoeia to describe the sounds that homes make; suburban homes whizz, beach homes sigh and farms rustle.
Catherine is a children’s author who writes books to encourage children to join in with the story. She lives here in Canberra with her husband, two children, a noisy possum that keeps her awake at night, her dog and three chickens.
Max Hamilton is an award-winning illustrator, graphic designer and most enthusiastically a maker of children’s books. Max won the CBCA Book of the Year: Early Childhood for Where the Lyrebird Lives, the book she illustrated for Vikki Conley, Where the Lyrebird Lives. She enjoys noticing the little details in things, loves to get lost in the world of illustration and stories. Max lives in Jannali in Sydney with her partner, two daughters, a couple of guinea pigs and a very cuddly dog.
