    Event description

Join us to celebrate the launch of Andrew Gunstone’sΒ Reflections on the Voice: During and After the Campaign.

Professor Andrew Gunstone is a leading authority in reconciliation. He is Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Reconciliation and Professor Indigenous Studies at Federation University, where he leads the National Centre for Reconciliation, Truth, and Justice. He is also Co-Chair of Reconciliation Victoria, Foundation Editor of the Journal of Australian Indigenous Issues, and sits on several national and regional reconciliation committees. He regularly provides advice on reconciliation to corporates, industry, community, governments, and academia.

Professor Gunstone’s new book β€˜Reflections on the Voice - during and after the campaign’ has just been published.Β This is the first book to explore the Referendum and its aftermath, and the implications for our ongoing national journey of reconciliation. The book, written for a general audience, explores key areas, such as: substantive reconciliation, racism, Indigenous rights, β€˜equality’, truth-telling, community engagements, international agreements, such as UNDRIP, allyship, and recommitting to Voice, Treaty, and Truth.

Copies of Professor Gunstone’s new book are for sale at this event for just $20, a savings of over 40% off the normal retail price. All proceeds go towards funding an Indigenous PhD scholarship on truth-telling.

Attendees of the event will be Welcomed to Country by Jess Davies-Huyhn (surname pronounced Davies-Win).

Jess is a proud Kaurna woman of both Aboriginal and German-Australian heritage, who was born and raised on Kaurna Country.Β  She is a direct descendant of Rathoola, one of the original apical ancestors of the Kaurna nation, and also has family connections to the Ngarrindjeri nation.

Jess is passionate about supporting self‑determination for Aboriginal peoples and their communities. As a young woman, she began following in the footsteps of her grandfather in pursuing Native Title rights for the Kaurna people.Β  She has held leadership and advisory positions on several boards and working groups including the Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation, Adelaide Parklands Authority and the Aboriginal Reference Group for Tarrkarri: Centre for First Nations Cultures.

Jess currently works at the National Indigenous Australians Agency, where she undertakes community engagement and supports reforms under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.Β  She enjoys spending her free time with her family, including her beautiful 2-year old son.
