Join us at The Book Cow for an evening with best-selling author Gabbie Stroud as we celebrate the release of her latest novel, The Angry Wives Club. Gabbie will be joined in conversation by Barbie Robinson from Living Arts Canberra.

Due to numbers we have moved the event to our friends Winning Appliances showroom at 80 Giles Street, Kingston (across the road from the Kingston Post Office).

From the author of Teacher, Dear Parents and The Things That Matter Most, this deliciously dark and funny new novel blends domestic noir with a chick-lit twist - perfect for fans of Jane Caro’s The Mother and Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies.

Welcome to Shellwater Bay - where the ocean views are stunning, the neighbourhood looks perfect, and three women are quietly planning a revolution. Joany is hiding a dangerous secret behind her picture-perfect life. Heather’s seemingly solid marriage collapses overnight when her husband demands a divorce. And Steph is raising kids with a partner who thinks “helping out” means calling his mother.

Bonded at their gym by sweat, frustration and a growing sense that something has to change, the women begin sharing the silent bargains they’ve made to keep the peace in their relationships. But peace has its price - and when simmering resentment begins to boil over, this unlikely trio starts wondering if a little revenge might be in order.

Gabbie Stroud is a freelance writer, novelist and recovering teacher. After years of juggling the demands of the primary classroom, she became disenchanted and disillusioned, eventually making the painful decision to leave the profession she had loved. In 2016, her critical commentary of Australia’s education system was published in Griffith Review’s Edition 51 Fixing the System, which went on to be shortlisted for a Walkley Award. Gabbie’s smash-hit memoir Teacher was shortlisted for Biography Book of the Year at the 2018 ABIA Awards and contributed to the national dialogue on education.
