About the book:

Every day is a tutu day when you have a skip-stepping-swirling, just-right-for-twirling everyday tutu! From Monday to Sunday, come rain or come shine, at the dog park or the supermarket, a tutu is exactly what's needed to bring joy, creativity and self-expression into the world. Bestselling, award-winning author Andrea Rowe joins forces with Tess Moh, winner of the Little Hare Illustration Prize, to create The Everyday Tutu, a perfect read-aloud with a hilariously relatable character every family will love and adore.

AWARD-WINNING CREATORS: A brand-new picture book from the author of Jetty Jumping, which won the 2022 Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Award for Early Childhood, and Tess Moh, winner of the 2023 Little Hare Illustration Prize.

FANTASTICALLY FUNNY: Everyone knows that headstrong kid who wears their tutu every single day, no matter the occasion!

CELEBRATION OF SELF-EXPRESSION: Readers will love our joyous main character, who finds opportunities for self-expression and creativity in everyday routines.

A PERFECT READ-ALOUD: The story is filled with Andrea's trademark rich and playful language, making it the perfect book to share at home, in the library or in preschool classrooms.

PERFECT FOR: Children aged 3 to 6, especially those who love all things ballet and dance! Little readers who delight in dressing themselves - and the grown-ups who love them. Fans of books like Josephine Wants to Dance, Gymnastica Fantastica, Flora and the Flamingo, Angelina Ballerina and Fancy Nancy. Parents and carers looking for read-aloud stories that reflect the fun and chaos of family life. Parents, teachers and carers looking for a heart-filled book about individuality, creativity and self-esteem.

About the author: Andrea Rowe is a best-selling, award-winning picture book author. Andrea loves to write stories where characters explore the great outdoors, ponder big questions and move through tricky feelings, which inspire conversations amongst children, families and educators. Her picture book, Jetty Jumping (illustrated by Hannah Sommerville), was awarded the 2022 CBCA Picture Book of the Year – Early Childhood.
Andrea is also the winner of several Australian short story awards, an ambassador for Australian children’s literature, an Ardoch Youth Foundation Writer In Resident and Mary Jane Lewis Scholarship Foundation mentor, and has been awarded a 2024 May Gibbs Fellowship. Andrea loves reading in cosy nooks, where she’s always surrounded by stacks of books.

About the illustrator: Tess, a former Language Arts teacher, is currently an illustrator based in Melbourne, and she loves creating comics! She gathers most of her inspiration from her personal life, and channels that into her comics which reflect the joyful ups and hilarious downs of her life. She enjoys finding the silver linings in these moments, and uses her art as a vehicle to bring hope and laughter to her readers as we all navigate through life. Since embarking on this creative journey three years ago, Tess has illustrated three children's books, and a commemorative publication commissioned by Clementi Primary School (Singapore). She also has had her work displayed in a joint art exhibition, For Art's Sake: Shaken & Stirred, held in Singapore (2021 and 2023). In 2022, she launched her first autobiographical comic book, Ms Moe's Woes, about her life as a teacher. Right now, she is working on another semi-autobiographical comic book, which is currently a secret!
