Description

Join us for a School Holiday Boredom Buster featuring Faeries & Folklore with Katrina Macdonald Roe, author of The Stolen Bairn. Based on three ancient Scottish faery tales, The Stolen Bairn is an enchanting middle-grade fantasy adventure.

Enjoy a reading from the book, create your own beautiful faery door, and learn some words of Scots language with our Bonnie Bairn Bingo.

We invite you to a hands-on creative session on faeries and folklore, to launch The Stolen Bairn, ideal for readers aged 9-14.

Meet Katrina, hear about how The Stolen Bairn was created, and enjoy a live reading from the book. You’ll then have a chance to make your own faery craft and learn some of the Scots language featured in the book!

Katrina will be in conversation with children’s author Melissa Garside.

About The Stolen Bairn

Katie Skea was stolen by faeries as a baby and won back by her mother’s courage.

Years later on the Isle of Skye, strange magic is stirring. When her new sister is mysteriously injured, Katie fears the faery world is calling her back—and the only way to save her family is to face the world she barely remembers.

Across Skye, Katie uncovers a fading faery kingdom, a boy trapped by nightly enchantments, and the truth about her own faery heritage.
