All welcome to the launch of The Worth of Persons: The Foundation of Ethics,

Humans have intrinsic worth, unlike stones, a worth that makes their fate really matter. The Worth of Persons is a serious philosophical investigation of what it is that makes humans special. It explains how the surface aspects of ethics, like rules, dilemmas, virtues, even right and wrong, arise from more basic truths about the nature of humans.

James Franklin is the author of Corrupting the Youth: A History of Philosophy in Australia and other books, and winner of the 2005 Eureka Prize for Research in Ethics.
