Book Launch: Unspeakable
Description
Climate, Resilience and Community Action with Dr Jean Renouf
Join CALM, in partnership with Lake Macquarie Council for an engaging evening exploring one of the defining challenges of our time: how communities can respond to a changing climate with resilience, connection and practical action.
Climate change is no longer a future possibility. Its impacts are already being felt in our communities, environments and daily lives. This special event will feature Dr Jean Renouf in conversation about the realities of climate disruption, the challenges it presents for Australia, and the opportunities for individuals and communities to strengthen resilience and prepare for the future.
Drawing on the themes of Unspeakable, the discussion will explore why it can be difficult to confront the scale of the climate crisis, while also highlighting tangible and achievable actions that people can take today to build stronger, more connected and adaptable communities.
Guests are invited to arrive from 5:30pm to enjoy light catering and browse a range of information displays showcasing local services, resources and initiatives that support community resilience and sustainability.
The formal presentation and conversation facilitated by Bonnie McBain will commence at 6:30pm, followed by an opportunity for audience questions and discussion.
At the conclusion of the event, attendees will have the chance to meet Dr Renouf during a book signing session. Copies of Unspeakable will be available for purchase on the night.
Whether you are deeply engaged in climate action, interested in community resilience, or simply curious about how we can navigate the challenges ahead together, this event offers an opportunity to learn, reflect and connect with others committed to building a stronger future.
