In this asynchronous faculty book club, we’ll be exploring 10 to 25: The Science of Motivating Young People by David Yeager, PhD. This book takes a research-based, practical look at how we can better understand and support learners between the ages of 10 and 25.

Why this book?
Yeager reframes the challenges and opportunities of working with young adults, highlighting the importance of respect, belonging, and the “mentor mindset” (high expectations paired with high support). Drawing on developmental psychology and real-world applications, the book offers insights directly relevant to teaching and student success.

What to expect:

Timeline: 12 weeks (asynchronous and flexible)
Structure: Six discussion cycles (one every two weeks)
Reading Load: ~35–40 pages per week (manageable pace)
Participation: Six discussion contributions across the term. We encourage participants to post an initial reflection in Week 1 of each cycle, followed by responses to colleagues in Week 2.
