“It helped me feel more connected to my baby and excited to start reading to my bump.”
Books for Bumps - Preview Workshop
Description
You may have heard that talking, singing and sharing books with your baby can support early communication - but what does that actually look like before your baby is even born, and how do you make it feel natural?
Books for Bumps is a small-group antenatal workshop from The Nurturing Hive, designed to help you feel more prepared for your baby’s early listening and communication.
During the workshop you will:
1. Understand - what your baby can already hear before birth and how early communication begins.
2. Practise - simple ways to use talking, songs and books during pregnancy, with ideas modelled and time to try them yourself.
3. Prepare - leave with more confidence, a carefully selected baby book you have already practised with, and a personalised Sound & Story Plan so the ideas you begin during pregnancy are ready to carry into everyday life with your baby.
The aim is to learn and practise simple ways to communicate with your baby before birth, so they already feel familiar when your baby arrives.
You’ll also have some protected time away from the usual pregnancy to-do list to focus on your baby and meet a small group of other expectant mothers.
Led by Fiona Deeney, a Listening and Spoken Language Specialist and UK-trained Speech and Language Therapist, the workshop draws on her experience in early communication, parent coaching and antenatal connection to create a warm, practical and supportive space for learning and trying things out.
About this complimentary preview
This first session is being offered complimentary ahead of the official Books for Bumps launch and first paid workshops in November. You’ll be invited to complete a short questionnaire before and after the workshop and share some feedback to help shape the experience for future participants.
Places are limited to four expectant mothers.
Advance registration is essential.
Because places are very limited, if you can no longer attend, please cancel as soon as possible so your place can be offered to someone on the waitlist.
Please note: Books for Bumps provides general, non-clinical parent education. It complements rather than replaces antenatal, maternity or healthcare services and does not provide individual medical, developmental, speech pathology or therapeutic advice.
