Event description

Join us for this exclusive Books@Stones event on 6 March with author Shayla Morgansen to celebrate the first of her Shadow Kin fantasy series, Mythos Unbound, where a monster-hunter brother and his FBI criminal profiler sister play paranormal cat-and-mouse in this urban fantasy-horror for adult fans of The X-Files, Supernatural and Dexter.

Would you know a monster if you saw one?

Finn Bryant lectures in mythology by day and moonlights as a supernatural hunter, tracking the glamoured 'Shadow Kin' he alone sees walking among us. Ghouls, vampires and other monsters have come for him since before he can remember, and he's spent his life learning how to take them down - before they can get to him or his beloved found family. Evie Bryant doesn't see the supernatural in her line of work, profiling serial killers for the FBI. Her brother's fascination with folklore feels a world away from Evie's reality of violent crime scenes and broken lives, even if it's been noted more than once that her talent for reading people is a little eerie. When a series of brutal murders with a mythological overtone prompts Evie to consult with Finn on a case, the siblings find themselves hunting the same killer. Evie will do anything to distance her brother from her work, but Finn can't walk away from this one. But whose monster is it? And what might it cost these siblings to find out?

Shayla Morgansen divides her time between her lives as a writer, educator and university student, essentially anywhere her enthusiasm for language can be put to good use. She has a background in dramatic arts and New Age, both of which influence her writing choices. At this point she is writing predominately fantasy, but has a strong lean towards sci-fi as well. Shayla resides in Brisbane, Australia with her very patient husband and a bookshelf packed full of books she never seems to find enough time to read. Visit Shayla's official website.
