Boots on the Ground – Resistant Entrepreneurship
This workshop is for migrant and diasporic creatives from the Global South who want to start or strengthen their creative practice as a business.
Over 3 sessions, you’ll gain practical tools to shape your creative project, understand your audience, plan your work, and build a more sustainable way to make a living from your creativity.
Many workshops focus on how to start and grow a business, but they don’t always reflect the realities and challenges migrants and people working outside mainstream economic and cultural systems face.
The workshop will be led by Natalia García-Fuentes, a USYD researcher exploring alternative ways of doing business, with a focus on Latin American approaches that challenge traditional economic models.
Through ideas such as autogestión and cooperativism, the workshop will help us think about how to structure work, build sustainable practices, and create livelihoods based on collaboration and community.
