Welcome to Borden Backtracks!
Join us for Borden Backtracks, a fun, family-friendly and FREE community gravel event showcasing the scenic backroads surrounding Borden. Whether you prefer to ride, run or walk, there's an event for every age and ability.
From obstacle courses for our youngest participants through to a 24 km gravel ride, Borden Backtracks is all about getting outdoors, being active and enjoying the best our community has to offer.
Who will be crowned the Town Challenge Champions?
Rally your friends, neighbours and family to represent Borden, Gnowangerup or Ongerup. The town with the highest participation per capita will be crowned the winner, so every participant counts! Dress in your town colours, bring the whole family and help your town claim the title.
Stay after your event to enjoy free food, refreshments and a relaxed afternoon connecting with people from across the Shire.
Borden Backtracks is a community gravel event proudly supported by the Shire of Gnowangerup.
Event Options
Junior Backtrackers Obstacle Course
Ages 8 and under
A fun obstacle course designed especially for our youngest runners and riders.
All participants must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
Backtracks 5
5 km Walk, Run or Ride
A relaxed event suitable for families, walkers, runners and riders, following a scenic out-and-back course to the Maileup Road turn-off.
Open to all ages. Participants under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Backtracks 10
10 km Run or Ride
A fun course through the backtracks and along Magitup Road to the Tin Hut Road turnaround. A great option for runners and riders looking for a little extra challenge.

Backtracks 24
24 km Ride
Our longest course, taking riders through Borden's beautiful backtracks on a scenic 24 km gravel adventure. Suitable for riders of all experience levels and a great way to explore the local countryside at your own pace.

FAQs
- Is the event free?
Yes! Borden Backtracks is completely free, including dinner, thanks to the support of our organisers, volunteers and sponsors.
- Do I need to register?
Yes. We ask everyone participating to register online before the event to help us with planning, safety and catering.
- What should I bring?
We recommend bringing:
A water bottle
Hat and sunscreen
Comfortable clothing (wearing your town colours!) and suitable footwear
Your bike and a correctly fitted helmet if riding
- Are helmets compulsory?
Yes. All riders must wear an approved bicycle helmet.
- Will there be food?
Yes! Afternoon tea will be available from 2.00pm to 3:00pm and after the events everyone is invited to enjoy a free dinner. Don't forget to RSVP for dinner :)
- Can family and friends come along?
Absolutely! Spectators are encouraged to come along, cheer participants on and enjoy the afternoon.
- Will first aid be available?
Yes. First aid will be available throughout the event.
- Where do I park?
Parking will be available at nearby Borden Primary School. Please follow the directions of volunteers on arrival.
