Special Preview Screening of Boss Cat at HOYTS Cronulla followed by live Q&A
Description
Be among the first to see Boss Cat ahead of its national cinema release on 3 December 2026. Join us at HOYTS Cronulla for a special preview screening, followed by a live Q&A exploring independent living, choice and the right to shape your own future.
Our guests include Ronan Soussa (Love on the Spectrum), Bronte Hendricks (co-founder, Stellar Experiences) and Marlee Silva, with the evening hosted by HOYTS CEO Damian Keogh.
Described by the Melbourne International Film Festival as “filled with energy, enthusiasm, optimism and a gentle dose of provocation”, Boss Cat follows twenty-three-year-old Sonja (Olivia Hargroder), who has Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome).
Following her mother’s sudden death, Sonja’s estranged grandmother returns to care for her and her younger sister. But when her grandmother plans to sell the family home and move Sonja into a group home, Sonja stands up for the life she wants.
Through a new friendship, Sonja discovers krump dance - a way to express her grief, channel her anger and find her voice.
Boss Cat is a story of grief, family and the transformation sparked by one woman’s determination to make her life her own.
