Bossa Sundays with The View From Madeleine's Couch
Event description
Doors: 5pm Live Music: 6-8pm
Bossa Sunday is an exquisite, intimate concert experience of bossa nova, Brazilian jazz and original music from Australia's internationally acclaimed ensemble.
**Note when booking or reserving space: the area directly in front of the band which seats around 8-10 people, is for listeners only. Catchups with pals and conversations are ably catered for in other areas of the bar :) Please don't book a noisy party for this area, as it impacts greatly on the sound and audience experience. There is a lovely room next to the bar with a serving window that's perfect for social groups and you can still hear the music!
Each month, the band brings all the love and experience of more than 25 years of playing Brazilian music in Australia (and sometimes in Brazil!), to Brisbane music-lovers. And whether you're a fan of Brazilian music, or beautiful music played by consummate artists, you'll love the sound, and the vibe of a Bossa Sunday session, now the longest Brazilian-music residency in Australia.
Alongside original songs from across three critically acclaimed albums, you'll hear songs from Jobim, Joyce Moreno, Djavan, Dorival Caymmi, Joao Donato, Rosalia de Souza, Roberto Menescal, Mauricio Einhorn and more.
In this intimate space, it's the trio or quartet taking to the stage (without drums).
Anje West's gorgeous Portuguese vocals and percussive accompaniment to Kym Ambrose's vibes provide the heart of the band's sound, weaving lyrical melodies and rhythms to create a most delightful experience of Brazilian music from some of Australia's pioneers of the art-form. Longtime band-members Bruce Woodward on guitar and OJ Newcomb on bass complete this accomplished and award-winning ensemble.
Don't miss your chance to hear the band in a fabulous, welcoming and intimate environment, and see why they're considered to be at the pinnacle of Brazilian music in Australia.
Order a delicious Stone & Brew pizza to be delivered to your table to enjoy during the show, or you can bring your own nibbles or a platter of goodies to go with the delicious cocktails and wines at the bar. And don't forget you can pop into the vintage boutique for a spot of retail therapy between sets!
