Tour description:
Immerse yourself in the ecology of an ancient Tasmanian forest with palaeobotanist and Tasmanian flora expert Professor Greg Jordan. Our bus will pick you up and take you to glorious Mount Field National Park, where Greg will guide you through what he calls his “backyard,” as you walk amongst some of the world’s tallest eucalypt forest and towering tree ferns, as well as a unique array of alpine vegetation. You’ll learn about the fascinating concept of palaeoendemics and view examples of some spectacularly ancient and rare plants along the way. You’re likely to spot wallabies, wombats, and even echidnas. After the walk, enjoy a beautiful picnic lunch of local Tasmanian produce, before returning to Hobart. Price includes transport, lunch, and park entry fees.

Notes:
Pickup and drop off in front of the Grand Chancellor Hotel, Hobart
Wear comfortable clothing, long pants, and sturdy walking shoes. Bring warm layers and water.
We will be following well maintained walking trails, but a fair to moderate level of fitness is required. The tour will include some gentle hill sections and occasional steps.

Cancellation policy: Full refund up to one week before the event. 50% refund up to 48 hours before the event.
