Bound x Smokelovers takeover featuring DJ Earl Grey
Bound is excited to present one of Australia's foremost selectors of rnb driven dance music on a special Saturday night at Smokelovers Rundle Street.
DJ Earl Grey aka Nik Thorup keeps himself busy organising parties with Rimbombo and sourcing music for Best Effort Records, which releases contemporary local electronic music as well as resurrecting the first ever Australian Drum & Bass release on vinyl. Nik also hosts The Best Effort Show, a transmission on Skylab Radio specialising in calming sounds for home listening.
As a DJ, Nik is a versatile selector with a particular affection for R&B influenced dance music. He held down a Friday night residency at Sydney's prized Freda's bar for three years, was invited to play at the final two years of the iconic Inner Varnika festival, and has earned support slots for CC Disco, Young Marco, Telephones, Damiano Von Erckert & No Zu as well as his own headline shows across Australia.
On this special night the front doors of Smokelovers will be closed to the public and entry will be strictly ticketed through an alleyway at the back. Funktion 1 sound will be provided by our friends and fellow promoter Inside Out and the space will be completely revamped to cater for your dancing pleasure - getting your freak on is no vice in our eyes.
As always Bound has a zero-tolerance policy toward anti-social behaviour. This includes sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia and any form of harassment. If you see or experience any of this behaviour please don't hesitate to let staff or event hosts know. We want this night and all future nights to be a safe and friendly experience for all involved.
Everyone deserves to feel welcome in these spaces.
See you there!
