A special message from Casual Harry
Casual Harry is a Cape Town, South African based drag king and boylesque performer. He has been performing since 2013 and trained under the Rouge Revue Burlesque Company.
Drag King and masc performance is in its infancy in South Africa and Casual Harry is heading up the first production house and platform to uplift afab masc performers. Harry produces and teaches Drag and Boylesque and runs a troupe called “The Rebel Son’s”.
Harry embodies the sexy swagger of masc performance, but focuses on helping others to find their authentic masc expression. Harry teaches performers to find their unique identity. Teaching simple choreo and performance structure, Harry facilitates performers to develop a basic toolkit of movement, this helps each person to develop their own style. Creating structure allows freedom for creativity. Harry has years of experience assisting performers understand the structure to creating an act.
Harry is in love with performance and the joy that shared creation brings communities. Harry believes that drag is a peaceful and purposeful rebellion against the chains of societal conformity. The alchemy from our expression on stage, frees us to live more authentically.
