BP - Site Visit Oct 2026
Description
Permaculture is not Gardening, rather gardening is one of the many tasks we undertake within a Permaculture lifestyle. Gardening in one form or another is vital to our existence, providing physical sustenance, exercise, and escape from normal day to day activities.
For this event we're heading out to visit three gardens within the greater Shepparton area, with a mixture of Ornamental, Productive and Native formats, and a mixture of developing, courtyard and well established gardens. Diversity is the key here, with a range of designs and processes.
We'll start off in Shepparton to visit two gardens, then head to the lake for a shared picnic lunch, before packing our bags and passports to travel to Kialla for a wander around a well established garden.
WHAT TO BRING - We suggest you bring sturdy walking shoes, and wet weather gear, just in case. An offering to the weather gods a few days prior probably wouldn't go astray.
LUNCH - Please bring a plate to share for Lunch, and a flask of hot water if you\d like a cuppa - Tea and Coffee provided. Also bring a plate, bowl, mug and cutlery for yourself.
Known Allergies for the day include dairy, peanuts, sesame, gluten and Solenacae (tomatoes, capsicum etc.). That doesn't mean you can't cook with these ingredients, just remember to remind people if they are in your food.
Well behaved children are welcome under Adult Supervision, well behaved Adults are also welcome, supervision optional.
SHARE TABLE - As usual, we will have a share table, this time at Lunch Time, so feel free to bring along anything you would like to donate for someone to take home - plants, seeds, preserves, books, whatever. The only rule is that if your offering is not taken, you get to take it back home again - albeit a rare occurrence.
And given this is a free event, we might offer our hosts preferential picking at the share table by way of appreciation.
MEMBER LIBRARY - And finally, our Librarian will be bringing along a selection from our library for members to borrow. This is also an opportunity for members to return any books they have previously borrowed and finished.
HEALTH - If you are feeling unwell on or leading up to the day, please feel free to stay and home and rest up. Would rather you not share, and get better in the process.
