FAQs

• Can I enter the Zoo before 10am?

  The Zoo does open at 9am, but we won’t be setup and able to register you in at this stage. We will be ready to go promptly at 10am, so we recommend not arriving before this time.

• Can we stay at the Zoo after 1pm?

  Yes, you are welcome to stay and continue enjoying the Zoo until it closes at 5pm.

• Is there an area set aside for Brainwave Families?

  Yes. We will be setting up our Brainwave Hub in The Hollow, near the Kids Zone, Ferris Wheel, Koalas and Reptiles. We’ll be set up there with some activities from 11am and we encourage you to enjoy your lunch with us, or stop by throughout the day to regroup.

• Will there be free food provided?

  No food will be provided. You may either bring your own, or purchase within the numerous food outlets at the Zoo. We do encourage you to bring your food over to The Hollow, and enjoy it together with Brainwave. We’ll have our Brainwave Hub setup at the Hollow from 11am.

• Can volunteers or Brainwave staff help supervise my children?

  No, you are responsible for your children at all times.

• Will there be any organised activities?

  We will have the Brainwave Hub set up in The Hollow from 11am where we will have a number of activities for some relaxation and connection and we strongly encourage you some and visit us there during the day.

• Is the Sydney Zoo wheelchair accessible?

  Yes. Sydney Zoo was designed to be inclusive for all guests. All public areas and exhibits are accessible by wheelchair or mobility scooter. The zoo is flat with wide pathways that span across the zoo, making your visit easy. In fact, there are no stairs in the entire zoo! The Zoo also offers stroller and mobility device hire, click here for more information. Accessible unisex stand-alone bathrooms are positioned around the zoo. In each toilet block there is an accessible stall with a baby change table and one accessible toilet without.

• What happens if it rains?

  Our event will go ahead – rain, hail or shine 😊 We recommend you, and your family, dress appropriately for the conditions on the day and be prepared for a wonderful day of connection and fun, whatever the weather.

• What do I do if I can no longer attend the family day?
