Branching Out 2026
More rustle, less bustle!
Event description
Learn how to relax amongst the trees with this unique forest-based health & wellness workshop
We’ve all done the weekend nature speed run to try to loosen up and shake off the stress of the week, only to find ourselves feeling exactly the same.
But what if you could learn how to properly engage with the environment on your weekend walk and head home with that real sense of inner peace you were searching for?
If this sounds like the you you want to be, join us for a very special morning at Buderim Falls to learn nature-based skills for building mental health resilience and developing coping strategies that you can adopt into your daily life to combat stress and anxiety.
These are proven techniques for improving health and wellbeing, delivered by locals who are experienced and passionate about their work with the community, including a clinical counsellor with a special interest in creative media therapies, and a certified nature and forest therapy guide.
What is involved?
Immersed in the forest, we will be walking, journalling, painting, drawing, snacking and learning!
The morning will include workshops on:
grounding and meditation techniques
relational nature and forest therapy practices
arts based mindfulness including nature illustration and painting
Not a great artist? Perfect, that makes two of us - welcome to the judgement free zone. We are creating healthy minds, not masterpieces!
Not up for a hike? Don't worry - it's about the experience, not the distance. There will only be a short, sheltered walk of around 1km or so. Heads up, there are some rock paths/stairs and a small creek crossing, so you will need to be a bit surefooted.
We will finish up with an amazing tasty tucker picnic for lunch whilst our friends from other environmental not-for-profits showcase fun ways you can connect with nature and help save the planet in the process.
You even get a goodie bag to take home that includes your own nature journalling kit and colouring book set, a native plant plus some yummy treats and resources to help you continue your wellness journey.
When: Sunday 31st May 2026, 7.30 am-12.00 pm
Where: Buderim Forest Park, Quorn Close, Buderim Qld 4556
We will meet at the Quorn Close entrance at the top of Buderim Forest Park at 7.15 am for check-in.

Cost: $25.00 per ticket - includes picnic lunch and goodie bag
