Yamaha Music Australia in partnership with BMS proudly presents the inaugural Brass Band Workshop Day on Sunday the 25th of February from 12pm!

This is a FREE event for both bands and audience members, so bring your friends and fellow musicians! We invite you and your brass band to come work with the fantastic Professor Rob McWilliams and Louisa Trewartha in a positive and rewarding environment at the Ralph Took Auditorium within Ferny Grove State High School.

There will be a workshop for any brass player to participate in from 12pm till 2pm, and then from 2pm all players will get the chance to enjoy some food and drink while browsing a wonderful range of Yamaha instruments and accessories!

From 3pm, each band will have their own 45 min session to work on anything from a test piece to a concert favourite or anything in between. We encourage everyone to sit and listen to other bands too.

Brass Music Specialists are a supplier and facilitator of all things Brass.

In 1989, frustrated with the limited availability of quality print music and instruments for teachers and their students, musicians Greg Aitken and Craig Cunningham devised a plan for a specialty brass shop in Brisbane. At the time they were playing with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (bass trombone and tuba) and in their numerous ‘bars rest’, formulated their plan for a new store exclusively for brass players. Within a few months the Brass Music Specialists was open for business. In 1991, the business moved into Greg’s old home in Graceville, where it has remained since.

Now, over 30 years later, Brass Music Specialists has expanded to include woodwind and education stock and employs a team of 15, including workshop technicians and education staff, as well as our knowledgeable instore members. We are proud to be a locally-owned and operated business, and pride ourselves on providing a personalised, high-caliber service to the musicians of Australia.

As well as their jobs at Brass Music Specialists, many of our staff perform in professional and community orchestras and bands, and all of our customer service staff hold, or are working toward, tertiary qualifications in music. As musicians ourselves, we care about providing quality advice and knowledge to the Australian music community, from beginner students to professionals.
