Bread roll - croissants and donuts ride
Description
A slow, social ride to croissants, donuts and coffee from local businesses. We're in no rush.
This is about social connection and enjoying the views of Lake Burley Griffin and parts of the National Triangle.
We'll be on mostly shared, separated paths between Dickson and Civic.
It starts with croissants and other goodies from Lilette in Dickson. We'll pass through the Australian National University campus alongside Sullivans Creek where it empties into the lake - formerly the Molonglo River, and see the northern bank of the central basin.
We'll introduce you to Marion Mahony and Walter Burley Griffin's ideas of the land axis and water axis for their 1911-12 plans for the national capital, ride all sides of the National Triangle, and finish at the Corner Market store on Marcus Clarke St for cinnamon donuts.
Wear layers, especially jackets with zippers, in case you get cold.
This ride is at least an hour long, and roughly 10km. There is a small hill climb up and over Parkes Way.
We welcome all types of people on all types of cycles, skates, and scooters.
You don't need special clothing, you just need brakes and a helmet.
