Description

You’ve picked up life, as you know it, and moved to (likely) the other end of the globe to start over. You’ve left behind your family, friends and career.

We’ve been there too.

Join us online for some free advice and practical tools to navigate the recruitment process in Australia:

  • Practical strategies to make your overseas experience stand out in the Australian job market.

  • A clearer understanding of what hiring managers and recruiters are really looking for.

  • Confidence to tell your story and position your experience authentically.

  • Real-life insights and inspiration from women who’ve navigated the same challenges.

PLUS: All attendees will receive a link to a free CV and Cover Letter Checklist Template, designed by Nabila Farhat, former recruiter and now career coach, to help you apply what you’ve learned straight away.

Our expert panel will share their tips and experience on breaking into the Australian workforce, with a question and answer at the end. Hear from:

  • a career coach with 10+ years of experience as a recruiter

  • a recruiter

  • a hiring manager

  • a woman who has been in your shoes and lived to tell the tale.

This event is open to both men and women from migrant backgrounds.

Does this sound familiar?

You arrived in Australia with big dreams, excited to build a new life and a new home, and to contribute to the Australian workforce with your years of experience and fresh ideas.

Reality was very different to your expectations.

After taking the time to get everyone else settled in, it’s finally time to focus on yourself and think about getting back to your career. How exciting!

You’ve always had a career, your own income, and something that was just yours, not about the kids, the household, or ageing parents, but about you and what you wanted to achieve. But somewhere along the way, it’s become harder to hold onto that. Not because you stopped caring, but because the barriers stacked up: career breaks for various family responsibilities, qualifications that don’t translate, workplaces that don’t recognise your experience, and the subtle (and not-so-subtle) ways systemic bias shows up. It’s exhausting, and it can make you question if that part of yourself still has space here.

You are not alone. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics nearly 33% of recent migrants experienced some difficulty finding their current job, most commonly due to a lack of Australian work experience or references and a lack of local contacts or networks.

We are here to fix the broken system and support you on your journey to meaningful employment.
