Our classes are exclusive to new or existing Australian Breastfeeding Association Virtual Village members. The cost of the class is only $20.00 + booking fee, plus membership if you haven't yet joined. If you are not a member please join prior to booking at https://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/memberships

Feel confident and prepared to breastfeed by attending one of our local face-to-face Breastfeeding Education Classes.

Our classes are designed for EXPECTANT PARENTS to prepare for breastfeeding in the vital days, weeks and months after their baby's birth (or babies' birth). The class aims to expand upon the knowledge gained at hospital antenatal classes, while giving up-to-date information and insights for both parents into breastfeeding and parenting in the early days. You’ll both leave feeling empowered and prepared for your journey ahead.

You will learn:

* How breastfeeding works

* How to get started including positioning and attachment

* Managing the early weeks and possible breastfeeding challenges

* How to adjust to life with a new baby

* Getting more information and support

You’ll also receive a resource pack.

Breastfeeding is a learned skill, for mums and babies alike. At our class you will learn practical skills to help both mum and baby in establishing breastfeeding, and gain knowledge of loving practical ways in which both mum and baby can be supported by others during their breastfeeding journey.

Our face-to-face Breastfeeding Education Classes run for 3½ hours (which is longer, and able o provide more information, than our Online Breastfeeding Preparation Sessions). They offer small-group interaction and, in many cases, a demonstration of breastfeeding by a local mum with a young baby.

Many mums find it ideal to book a class 6 to 7 months into their pregnancy. This allows for breastfeeding supportive strategies to be added to birth plans, time to connect with the local Australian Breastfeeding Association support group, and allows for potential early arrivals! Past participants regularly comment that our classes were THE most important bit of pre-birth preparation they did.
