Event description

Breath is a three-part series of workshops specifically designed to give you an experience within the full spectrum of the world of breathwork in a fun and educational way giving you the insights and tools necessary to make life-long changes to your life.

Although each workshop in some ways builds upon the last they are in effect individual workshops. If you would like to attend a workshop as a single event then click the link under the event image.

PART 1 - Breath: The Fundamentals

When: Feb 11th

Where: Mt Eliza (location sent via confirmation email)

Time: 11:00 - 15:00

Are you curious as to why there’s a wave of interest that’s engulfing breathing?

Are you wondering if you've missed something?

Most likely you, like many others, feel that because you’ve been breathing since birth you don’t need to think about it, let alone learn about it. I mean let’s face it it’s a pretty simple act.

There is however a functional and a dysfunctional way to breathe. And this workshop is here to help you figure out which is which and how to get the most out of every breath that you take.

You may be a dysfunctional breather if:

  • You are frequently tired regardless of having 7-9 hours of sleep
  • You frequently sigh or yawn
  • You frequently hold your breath
  • You breathe ‘upward’ rather than ‘outward’ (unsure? Just look in the mirror and take a few deep breaths)
  • Your mouth hangs open frequently (during resting times and exercise)
  • You feel restricted when you take a deep breath
  • You’re frequently congested
  • You struggle to unwind
  • You struggle to feel at peace

If yes to even one of these could be an indicator that your breathing needs some work.

You may be a complete beginner to the concept of ‘conscious breathing’ or perhaps you've already attended a 'breathwork' experience and are interested in deepening your understanding of the hows and whys.

There is solid and scientific reasoning behind this surge in popularity in breath for it influences virtually all aspects of our existence. And that is not an understatement.

The fact of the matter is dysfunctional breathing = a dysfunctional life.

We are born perfect breathers until the age of 5.5 years at which point we begin to pick up bad habits that negatively affect our breathing. The bad news here is that it's not uncommon that you've spent the majority of your life breathing suboptimally. The good news is that it's fixable - it just takes a little training, commitment, education, and most of all - awareness

In this workshop, you will learn, feel, experience and takeaway:

- Functional Breathing Assessments
- Breath Corrective Exercises
- Tips on Building Daily Habits and Practices
- Breathing Science That Includes Breathing Mechanics and Chemistry

Think of your breath as the key that unlocks the state of your mind & body: the better you breathe, the better you experience life.

PART 2 - Breath: For Sport & Recovery

When: Feb 18th

Where: Mt Eliza (location sent via confirmation email)

Time: 11:00 - 15:00

For years the athletics world has focused on muscle strength and flexibility, strict diet regimes, warm-ups, and stretching, and for good reason; they're all important.

However, there's one crucial element that has been overlooked by many for so long that will transform the way you train and recover: breath.

By understanding and embracing a few key breathing principles and concepts you can;

- Train smarter, and harder.

- Increase your endurance.

- Decrease needed rest time between sets and training days.

- Know when your body is rested and ready for appropriate output or not.

- Reduce the risk of injury.

Whilst dysfunctional breathing, you'll never hit your full athletic output and endurance potential, and your recovery will be impaired and delayed meaning you'll be spending more time resting than working.

In the workshop we will cover:

  • What is functional breathing in relation to physical training (aerobic or anaerobic)
  • The Breathing Gear System to get the MOST out of your training window
  • The importance of carbon dioxide for oxygen uptake
  • How to get and sustain the maximum amount of ATP (energy) in the cells
  • Breath holds for training gains
  • Nasal breathing for sustained aerobic endurance
  • Nervous system regulation
  • And more!

There will be physical exercises and movement throughout the day so wear suitable clothing. You may sweat.

THERE WILL ALSO BE AN ICEBATH!

This workshop is not for the occasional "Sunday Runner" but for regular athletes and exercise-type folk (of all levels, and age) who already have a training program and/or routine in place.

Part 3 - Breath: To Breakthrough

When: Feb 25th

Where: Mt Eliza (location sent via confirmation email)

Time: 11:00 - 14:00

Breath to Breakthrough is a workshop dedicated to unpacking the nervous system and how we can use breath as a potent tool to release emotion and trauma that is stored there.

The workings of the nervous system are mysterious and magical.

What is essentially the electrical wiring of your body, the nervous system is responsible for your entire human experience.

To make any lasting, positive change to your life you must understand not just the principles of the nervous system but how your life's experiences have conditioned your personal nervous system throughout your entire life.

And only then can you use your breath to navigate and explore that terrain and to, essentially, break through any blockages and heal from within in a safe and beautiful space.

In this workshop you will get the following:

In this workshop you will get the following:

  • A deep understanding of the nervous system

  • A guided “breakthrough” breathing session in a safe and secure space
  • Understanding how breathing can play a key role in a therapeutic setting
  • Ceremonial-grade cacao
