Briar: A new folk project from Daniel Romano

Two acoustic guitars, bass, harmonium, and densely woven vocal harmonies: Briar brings Daniel Romano’s ever-curious musical path into an intimate, immersive setting.

Drawing on the British folk tradition of Bert Jansch, Bridget St. John, and The Watersons, with harmonies reminiscent of early Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Briar makes celebratory, deeply human music. The songs explore perennial philosophy and spiritual idealism, digging into the essence of our being.

For these live performances, Romano is joined by longtime collaborators Carson McHone on bass and vocals and Tommy Major on guitar and vocals, both from The Outfit, alongside Fliss Horrocks on harmonium and vocals.

Candles, incense, recitations, and theatrical elements create an experience that blends folk concert and theatre, conceived for intimate listening rooms, folk clubs, and art spaces.

Briar’s debut album, Aeterna Memoria, was written and recorded by Romano in spring 2026 and is slated for release on October 30, 2026, through You’ve Changed Records.

Deux guitares acoustiques, une basse, un harmonium et des harmonies vocales finement entrelacées : avec Briar, Daniel Romano poursuit son parcours musical empreint de curiosité dans un cadre intime et immersif.

Puisant dans la tradition folk britannique de Bert Jansch, de Bridget St. John et des Watersons, avec des harmonies qui rappellent les débuts de Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Briar propose une musique profondément humaine qui célèbre la vie. Les chansons explorent la philosophie pérenne et l’idéalisme comme fondement spirituel, pour sonder l’essence même de notre être.

Sur scène, Romano est accompagné de ses complices de longue date Carson McHone à la basse et au chant et Tommy Major à la guitare et au chant, tous deux membres de The Outfit, ainsi que de Fliss Horrocks à l’harmonium et au chant.

Bougies, encens, récitations et éléments théâtraux composent une expérience à la croisée du concert folk et du théâtre, conçue pour les petites salles d’écoute, les clubs folk et les espaces artistiques.

Le premier album de Briar, Aeterna Memoria, a été écrit et enregistré par Romano au printemps 2026. Sa sortie est prévue le 30 octobre 2026 sous l’étiquette You’ve Changed Records.
