Brick by Brick Programme (8 - 11 year olds)
Event description
The Brick by Brick Programme (Brick Club) is facilitated by registered psychologist Sarah Buckland and is ideal for children who have been diagnosed with autism or children who may have social communication difficulties.
Through facilitated therapeutic play effective social communication skills are learnt, resulting in more social confidence and less overwhelm.
During each session cchildren work together in teams of 3 to build Lego models. The building tasks are divided into interdependent roles. Each person in the team will need to participate in interaction and verbal and non-verbal communication with their teammates to successfully complete their model.
Of course, it's not all work - at the end of each session, your child will have the opportunity to engage in free play and make their own creation.
Our numbers are kept small, but the programme needs at least 3 participants to proceed.
If 3 children register then the class will run for1 hour, if 6 register then the class can run for 2 hours.
Please note
As this is a therapeutic group, you will need to fill out an intake form to ensure that Building Play Therapy is the right environment for your child. If your child is not a current client of Kidz Therapy, you may also require a 30 minute intake session, additional charges for this will apply.
Your child's enrolment will be confirmed after Sarah has completed the intake process.
Full refunds will be made to anyone not confirmed.
