This session will examine concepts of health from the perspectives of incarcerated Aboriginal Australian women. Sacha Jamieson will open the session with a discussion on her paper ‘Holistic Conceptualizations of Health by Incarcerated Aboriginal Women in New South Wales, Australia,’ a qualitative study that examines Aboriginal Australian women’s understandings of health. The second part of the discussion will bring this paper into conversation with a selection of poems from the Unlocked Anthology — the product of the Unlocked project run by Red Room Poetry. All poems were written by incarcerated women who were participants in the program.
