Over the last 20 years corporate Australia has made leaps and bounds in understanding the need for a diverse and inclusive workplace, however there are still more conversations to be had and more work to be done.

Prepare to step into the shoes of another, challenge your own implicit bias and find new ways to tackle difficult conversations as we join to discuss the way forward, both in a panel setting and as a collective.

This event is an invitation for all of us – from the Anglo-male CEO, to the African female junior consultant, as well as the LGBTQI+, indigenous and disability communities – to all have a seat at the table and broaden our perspective on diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Facilitator – Sean Szeps

Sean Szeps will be masterfully facilitating the event. Sean is a podcast host, content creator and LGBTQI+ advocate, most well-known for his commentary on the parenting experience as a gay man. Prior to his media career, Sean worked in advertising for a decade in NYC, developing social media strategies for global brands like eBay, Nespresso and Spotify. Sean now lives in Sydney with his husband and twin toddlers.

Panellists

Rochelle Morris

Rochelle is a Gumbaynggirr Woman from North Coast NSW. She has received a Bachelor’s Degree in Adult Education and worked both in higher education and public service.

Rochelle is currently the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison and works within the student experience team of Torrens University. Rochelle values the importance of education and the importance of including Indigenous cultural perspectives in everything that we do.

Saro Roro

Saro is the Chief Operations Officer, and Queensland Representative of We Are The Movement – an organisation centred on elevating and creating space for BIPOC voices across Australia. Coming initially from a career in the sciences (having spent 8+ years working as an analytical geologist) – she has now undertaken further steps in her career in working to her passions and goals within the social entrepreneurial space. Now working for spur: a Brisbane based organisation whose focus is on creating a world that is fair, sustainable and well - she is able to further her aspirations in using creative strategies to help create a world where equality is possible for all people - regardless of race, gender, sexuality or beliefs. On top of that – she works with other creatives to curate nuanced content around the experiences of being a Third Culture Kid in Australia, has other artistic endeavours in the performing arts and has an interest in sustainable coffee creation/production.

Sam Holliday

Sam is a Director and the Head of Business Projects within Profusion Recruitment. Sam has a blended experience both in travels and career. Prior to settling in Australia, he was born in Scotland and brought up in Yorkshire.

Sam’s artistic eye has seen his work in solo exhibitions around Sydney and makes him a great asset to our panel discussion this Thursday as we unpack the nuances of diverse and inclusive work places.
