About the workshop

Women’s pain is often dismissed, minimised, or misunderstood. Evidence shows that gender bias, the social determinants of health, fragmented care pathways, long wait times, and cost barriers all contribute to poorer outcomes.

This half‑day workshop brings together professionals across the Southern Metropolitan Region to build a shared understanding of women’s pain and explore opportunities for cross‑sector action.

You’ll hear insights from:

WHISE’s consultations with women with lived experience

Practitioners working in women’s pain

Community members sharing lived experience stories

You’ll also take part in guided discussions on:

• What women’s pain is and why it matters

• What drives inequities in pain care

• Who is most affected and why

• Where systems unintentionally create harm

• Where collaboration could make the biggest difference

What you’ll gain

By attending, you will:

• Strengthen your understanding of women’s pain through an intersectional feminist lens

• Hear from practitioners and lived experience experts

• Help identify system gaps and priorities for change

• Contribute to shaping a regional follow‑up forum and potential Community of Practice
