In partnership with Sydney Local Health District, we are seeking Expressions of Interest for a parenting program delivered to parenting pairs who are new to parenting. If interested in attending please enter your information through the ticket booking section and we will be in contact to discuss the program and confirm suitability. If you're unsure if this program is for you, feel free to fill out the ticket booking sections and we will call and answer any questions!

The program is free, however the required workbook has a cost of $50 and this can be shared by both people in the pair.

The Bringing Baby Home program is a parenting and relationship program that supports pairs sharing the parenting role to build a strong emotional foundation in their families. Designed for both pregnant and new parents, the Bringing Baby Home program will give you skills and information to recognise and cope successfully with the normal stressors of becoming a family. The program was developed by Drs John and Julie Gottman and has been evidence based. More information on the program development and research is available here. 

The program is designed for parenting pairs including:

  • Couples
  • Parents no longer in a relationship but who will be co-parenting their child
  • Sole parents with a person they feel will have a significant role in their parenting journey (eg. Grandparent, other family member, friend, carer, nanny etc)

The program is inclusive of people from all cultures, gender expressions and family types.

What is the focus of the program?

The program teaches parenting partners how to:

  • Increase friendship in their relationship
  • Deal effectively with conflict
  • Involve both parenting partners in infant care and parenting
  • Improve the qualify of parent-infant interaction
  • Recognise the psychological and emotional needs of their child

The program will be run by certified Bringing Baby Home facilitator and Sydney Local Health District Senior Social Worker, Joanne Maloney.

When will the program run?

The program will run for two hours on Tuesday evenings commencing the 28th of February on the following dates:

  • 28th February
  • 7th March
  • 14th March
  • 21st March
  • 28th March
  • 4th April

Start time is expected to be between 5 and 6pm. This will be confirmed once the program cohort is confirmed.
