ABOUT OUR MASTERCLASS ARTISTS

Margaret and Louise share a common love of Bach’s music. Both artists are internationally trained and in demand as masterclass presenters, Teaching Artists, clinicians, and recording artists, invited to perform at Australia's finest music festivals and concert series. 

Margaret Blades - Violin

Margaret Blades is a distinguished Australian violinist, chamber musician, and educator. She is Co-Artistic Director and Lead Violinist of the Gold Coast Chamber Orchestra, guest artist for Southern Cross Soloists, member of the Australian World Orchestra and Creative Director of Music at Bond University, Gold Coast. 

Formerly Concertmaster of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Associate Concertmaster of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Margaret has forged a career performing with Australia’s leading ensembles, including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Sydney Symphony, and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

As a soloist, she has appeared with the Adelaide Symphony, Tasmanian Symphony, and West Australian Symphony Orchestra, performing works by Vivaldi, Ross Edwards, Richard Mills, and James Ledger, including a notable performance of Vivaldi’s Double Violin Concerto alongside Nigel Kennedy. 

She has performed internationally in New Zealand and the USA, including Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with Emerson String Quartet violist Lawrence Dutton. A sought-after collaborator, Margaret has shared the stage with Michael Goldschlager, Geoffrey Tozer, and Geoffrey Lancaster, and has been featured on ABC Classic FM and at major festivals across Australia.

Louise King - Artistic Director, Cellist and Teaching Artist 

Louise King, is an alumni of Royal College of Music, London and Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and has worked with Australian Chamber Orchestra, Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra, Opera Australia, Australian Youth Orchestra and is a resident of Eudlo, Hinterland, Gubbi Gubbi country. 

ABOUT OUR MASTERCLASS

WHO: Youth or Adult musicians who play violin or cello, emerging artists, established artists, private music studio teachers, string teachers, community practitioners. 

WHAT: Masterclass is suitable for minimum grade 6 AMEB level and above, 

MASTERCLASS: Violinists and Cellists!  Are you learning a movement of a Bach suite, a Sonata or a Partita, or a Baroque work (1600-1750) by Bach? Participants have the opportunity to work on stage and explore Baroque Style principles through a range of engaging activities. Observers and teachers are welcome to attend. 

Participants to prepare any movement of the following Bach works (suitable for grade 5-8 AMEB and advanced cellists):

  • J.S. Bach Violin Sonatas, Partitas, or Suites

  • J.S. Bach arrangements of famous works i.e. Suzuki arrangements book 3 and above

CONDITIONS
A place in the ensemble workshop and/or masterclass is issued by Cello Dreaming. The booked place in the workshop/masterclass is considered sold and subject to the following conditions:

  1. The booked place cannot be exchanged with another applicant, returned and refunded after purchase.

  2. The right is reserved to add, withdraw or substitute presenters, artists, vary ticket prices, and/or vary advertised programs, seating arrangements and audience capacity.

  3. The presenter, performer and Cello Dreaming reserve the right of admission to the workshop/masterclass.

  4. If the workshop/masterclass has to be cancelled due to natural disaster, adverse weather conditions or for any other cause reasonably beyond the presenter’s control, there is no right of refund or exchange, and no obligation is assumed by the presenter for the arranging of a substitute event.
