Description

It is a truth universally acknowledged... that a night spent crafting together is good for the soul! We’re watching Pride & Prejudice at our next craft movie night 💌🏛️❤️‍🔥🌅 So, pack up your craft supplies and join us for another nostalgic movie night on Tuesday, 20 October.

If you love movies (most ardently!) but are equally passionate about your latest craft project, Brisbane Craft Movie Nights are for you. Bring your crochet, knitting, sewing, friendship bracelets, colouring in or embroidery supplies (and your friends!) to the Palace Barracks cinema for a fun and creative Tuesday night activity to break up the work week.

💡 Please keep in mind, the cinema lighting will still be dimmed, just not turned off completely like in a regular movie session. This allows us to enjoy the movie on the big screen while we work on our favourite craft hobbies. Whether you're coming with a group or attending solo, it's the perfect way to surround yourself with like-minded Brisbane crafters and enjoy a super relaxed, friendly and creative night out.

🎬🧶 Essential Info...

When: Tuesday, 20 October 2026

Where: Palace Barracks Cinema

Movie: Pride & Prejudice (2005)

Time: 7:00pm movie start time (arrive from 6:30pm, cinema doors will open around 6:45pm)

Movie runtime: 2hr 10mins (approximate finish time 9:10pm)

  • You're welcome to bring any craft activity provided it won't leave any mess AND you can do it quietly from your seat without disturbing our fellow crafters. Unfortunately, this means no glitter, paints, glue, sewing machines, etc.

  • Seats are unallocated. If you're attending as a group, arrive early so you have time to get snacks and find seats together

  • Lights will still be dimmed so we can see the movie, just not turned off completely. Small craft neck lights are fine, but make sure they're not too bright and are pointed straight down at all times so you're not disturbing the crafters around/behind you

  • The cinema is fully licensed and you're welcome to buy drinks or snacks before the movie starts!

  • Parking options are available (fees apply) and the cinema is easily accessible by public transport (Roma Street train station is approximately a 10-minute walk away). More information HERE

  • Tickets are limited and non-refundable!

Accessibility:

  • Wheelchair-accessible seating is available at the Barracks. If you require a wheelchair-accessible space in the cinema, please make sure you select the Wheelchair-Accessible Ticket option at checkout as these spaces are limited and feel free to reach out if you have any questions. More information HERE

  • We are happy to accept Companion Cards at our events. If you hold a valid, government-issued Companion Card please select the free Companion Card Ticket option at checkout for your companion, alongside a valid paid ticket for yourself, just so I can manage venue capacity on the night

So, what are you waiting for? Dust off your bonnets and get ready to spend an evening out with the Bennet sisters. Book your seats today and see you there!

As always these events are inspired by Juliet, the Melbourne-based legend behind sew.hooked.crochet - go follow her! 🩷

FAQs

  • How bright is the cinema lighting?

The cinema lighting is left on during the film, but please be aware that it will still be a little bit dim to make sure we can see the movie screen as well as our crafts. You're welcome to bring your own craft neck light (as long as it's not too bright and is pointed straight down, not clipped at an angle) and I'd recommend colourful yarn/projects!

  • Can I bring my own craft light?

Yes, small personal neck lights are fine but please make sure they're not too bright and are pointed directly down at all times so you're not disturbing the crafters around or behind you (ie please no desk lights clipped to a lap tray/desk at an angle as this can be blinding!).

  • Can I book a specific seat?

No, currently seating is unallocated. If you're attending as a group, please arrive early so you have time to get snacks and find seats together as I can't guarantee this will be possible once the cinema starts to fill up.

  • Can I talk during the movie?

Yes, we promote a laid-back atmosphere in the cinema but as always, please be respectful of the crafters around you and don't talk loudly through the entire movie! Further to that, if you're looking for complete silence in the cinema, these aren't the events for you.

  • Do you offer refunds?

No, we do not offer refunds.

  • Can I turn up on the day and/or buy tickets at the door?

Unfortunately not! Due to our venue agreement and capacity limits, we are unable to process ticket sales at the cinema or accommodate any walk-ups on the night. All tickets must be pre-booked online in advance. If you do happen to miss out on tickets and our event sells out, make sure to join the online waitlist just in case a spot does opens up.

  • Is wheelchair-accessible seating available?

Yes, wheelchair-accessible seating is available at the Barracks. If you require a wheelchair-accessible space in the cinema, please select the Wheelchair-Accessible Ticket option at checkout as these spaces are limited and feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Please note, this is a dedicated space in the cinema, not a seat. More information HERE.

  • Do you accept Companion Cards?

Yes, we are very happy to accept Companion Cards at our events. If you hold a valid Companion Card please select the free Companion Card Ticket option at checkout for your companion, alongside a valid paid ticket for yourself, just so I can manage venue capacity on the night. You will be asked to present your valid Companion Card at the door.
